On Monday, we packed up the car and headed south. We are headed for New Orleans eventually but we aimed for the DC area. After an evening in Manassas, VA, we went to find the famous Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park. The weather, however, did not seem to be on the same page. It was rainy and foggy and when we finally got on to Skyline, there was zero visibility, not only off the mountain but on the road too. We couldn’t see 6 feet in front of the car. We finally made our way off the road and found a place to eat at random. Hank’s Smokehouse in McGaheysville, VA is some of the best barbeque I have ever eaten. I think you can see for yourself how Mollie felt about the meal. After lunch, we tried the Blue Ridge Parkway for a while but it too was very foggy and slow going so we finally hit the interstate and ended up in Knoxville, TN. Today we are headed towards Nashville and the Natchez Trace Parkway, towards New Orleans. Hopefully on to some better weather ahead as well. Click the picture for more.
